IKE

Aug  2008

By: Scott Stillman

The two weeks before IKE we went to Redfish for a raft up, with the Multi-hulls.  While there we realized that the house batteries were dieing.  The counter is supposed to be able to drop to -200 amp hrs.  They would only go down to -10.

The next weekend we went back out to Redfish and made the new batteries sweat.  We went down to -169 w/out problems.  Yea team Stillman.

We then spent the rest of the week cleaning.

Aside- I went to Rotary and work at the regular time in College Station and went through the entire morning before realizing the importance of the day 911.  It's a testament to how far we've come as a country!

Anyway I got a call at 11ish from Jennifer saying she was heading home and we were in an evacuation zone.

More Boat Porn

Here we see VII C's Necked and tied up.  She is stripped bare.  Bound and each appendage and ready for her beating.

Tide is coming up and Scott, Jennifer, and the pussies are heading out.  Actually we are leaving because the marina turned off the power.  Shitty bastards.

We left Kemah at 4:30 Thursday September 11th officially becoming evacuees.  We followed a raggedy band of survivors eventually finding our way to Jennifer's brothers house (Eric) in Georgetown at 9:15pm.  Google maps says it should take 3 hours and 56 minutes to get to her brothers house.  We were on the road an extra 49 minutes.  Let me tell you it was a living hell.

Upon arriving at Eric's house we immediately became trailer trash.  They have a very nice travel trailer parked in the back yard.  We put the pussies to bed and watched the news for the next few days.  E-mailing back and forth with friends and dock buddies wondering if everything you own is lost.

Then we started seeing the news pictures of Kemah and Seabrook absolutely trashed.  Jennifer made me wait, but by Sunday we were heading back home.

This is our damage.  The cover over our gas tanks was loose and we lost a hatch over the port aft cabin.

Here is Tony our dock buddy covering our hole.

Water damage.  We spent the next 3 days doing laundry and drying out stuff.

This is the view of our Pier 17 when we walked up the the boat.

Checking on our buddy Mike's CAT

Damage at Waterford.  I could not find any damage that would be more than the deducible.

But...  Across the street at Watergate the damage is more than $100 million.

Once we arrived we spent the week cleaning up.  We had to run the engines to power up the batteries.  Our new batteries.
