PDQ 36
Hull #68
Catnap

$149,000

Catnap is outfitted for safe comfortable cruising.  The vessel is a 1998 PDQ36 with a hardtop, 2 new Yamaha engines plus a spare rebuilt engine.  She is hauled annually for about 7 months of R. & R.

The vessel is well organized for single-handing which I often do, with the assistance of a newly upgraded auto-pilot system. I recently sailed alone from North Carolina to New York.  I can anchor, or raise the anchor from the helm utilizing the electric windless which can also be controlled from the bow, and there’s also a manual windless which controls a second large anchor.

The oversized anchoring gear is extremely efficient. At the July 4th fireworks in New York harbor, we anchored in 35’ of water, and she grabbed with less than 50’ of chain dropped, though we of course let out more chain.

Frankly, I do not use the asymmetrical spinnaker very much, because I don’t single hand it, but she is beautifully colorful, as designed by my wife and daughter. I do use the fully battened main and roller furling Genoa when I sail alone.

With her instrumentation; radar, GPS color chart plotter, wind, depth, knot, meters, we have felt safe the few times we were confronted with extremely poor visibility in fog or heavy weather.  To ensure we are sufficiently visible we have navigation lights at deck level, and also a redundant tricolor navigation light, with an emergency strobe light, at the top of the mast.  Four solar panels minimize the need for running engines to charge the batteries.

The cockpit is well laid out with a Captain’s chair on each side, and has the 12’ optional bench across the back of the cockpit, which also has the davits for lifting and storing a dinghy and motor.  The music system with CD player, has speakers in the cockpit as well as down below.  Protection from the sun and rain is provided by the hardtop, and from the dodger.

The 2 mid vessel queen size berths are as comfortable and spacious as our beds at home, with ventilation provided by hatches, opening ports, electric fans, and large dorades.  The dining table can be lowered and converted to a comfortable king size berth. The salon galley area has opening hatches and ports, plus electrical and solar fans for ventilation.

The galley includes a propane stove, stand up fridge, and there is a huge cooler with 6” insulation under the quarter berth.  We usually use the quarter berth for storage, but a close couple or 2 kids can sleep there in comfort, as  I have when confronted with too many  relatives on board.  There is a door for privacy and ventilation is provided by a large hatch, opening port, and electric fan.

There is a separate stall shower, with a seat, and on demand hot water. Another shower is on the steps aft. The head was recently rebuilt and the holding tank can be emptied from the deck, or to the sea when appropriate.

All ports and hatches are screened to keep the little critters off us.

I am also attaching a few pictures and an inventory list.
