We went to the San Luis in Galveston, TX for a business meeting.  The San Luis was built on top of Fort Crockett's 12 inch costal artillery harbor defenses.   There is a very cool story on their web site www.sanluisresort.com under history.

As you can tell from the view below it is a very nice place to stay.

On the drive to Galveston we always stop and play a few rounds of Glow in the Dark indoor putt putt.  It's called The Putting Edge.  Here is a short introduction movie that they put together.    The Putting Edge Movie

My business meetings lasted from 8 am to Noon every day.  It was a grueling Schedule.   Jennifer and I started doing Yoga most mornings.  Doing sun salutations on top of the artillery embankments while the sun was coming up over the gulf was very cool.

After meetings we did different things each day.

The first day we decided to drive up to Kemah, 20 miles north, and spent the day walking though Marina's.   We spent several hours with our tongue's hanging out licking the paint off several boats.   We were doing research on marina costs and amenities.

The second day we went to downtown Galveston.   Jennifer and I spent several hours touring The Galveston Railroad Museum.  I am a recovering Railroadaholic.  I have spent several months building and rebuilding Railroad scenes.  Jennifer is my enabler.   I spent an hour stuck to the glass of one of the largest model railroad scenes I have ever seen.  Oh well, there's not a lot of room for a railroad on a boat.  After I was pealed off the glass we walked around down town.  There is a store that serves old time soda that they mix in front of you.  There is an actual soda jerk, jerking soda.  Yummy.

One of the coolest places we ate was the Rain Forest Cafe.  Good food.  They have a very unique setup.  They have some of the larges salt water aquariums I have seen.  They have decorated the rest to look like a rain forest.  Every 15 minutes or so the show starts.  The misters go off, strobe lights start flashing, and thunder crashes.  Every kid in the place starts screaming and crying.  Good fun.
